Modeling Hand in maya

Hello…. In this tutorial we try to modeling a human hand. First time I’m modeling hand that’s make me frustration. Cause the result not good and now I like make detailing in zbrush more fast just need 5 or 10 minute. If you feel like that, is OK you can learn again. You not need have same final result with this tutorial.

OK we start now.

1. Create cylinder for modeling finger. See picture for adjust attributes.

2. see picture. It is front finger.

1. cylinder we create before.

2. select edge

3 delete edge.

3. Now we work on back of finger. Select face and delete it.

4. Add 6 edge (see picture). Select vertex and translate up.

5. Now we create wrinkle for front finger.

1. Select face on top finger.

2. Extrude and scale down.

6. now we create second wrinkle for finger.

1. Select face on top finger, extrude and scale down.

2. Select face again see step 2 in picture below.

3. Extrude and scale down.

7. and this the result for creating wrinkle.

8. Now we create nail.

1. Add loop edge.

2. select face.

3. Extrude down and scale down little bit. And extrude again, translate up.

4. rotate back the face.

9. Now we reshaping the nail.

1. Add loop edge.

2. Select vertex (see picture below). Translate to the front.

10. Create font nail

1. Select face on front nail.

2. extrude front and make couple reshaping.

11. This the result for finger.

12. create all finger except thumb. Duplicate the finger we create before and placing like picture below.

13. create thumb. Create thumb same like we create finger before. But thumb just have one wrinkle. Like second wrinkle we made.

14. Detailing thumb. Extrude the back of thumb and add loop edge.

15. Placing thumb.

16. Now we create palm of hand. Create cube. See picture for attributes parameter

17. Shaping the cube.

1. Scale cube. See picture step 1

2. Delete all face on front of cube (all face near 4 finger).

3. Combine 4 finger with cube, attach vertex finger to cube and merge vertex.

18. This the result for attaching 4 finger.

19. Now we detailing 4 finger

1. Select face. (see picture step 1).

2. Delete face

3. Merge vertex

20. Still detailing 4 fingers.

1. After merged vertex. Select edges.

2. Delete edges

21. Still detailing 4 fingers.

1. After delete edge. Create edge using split tool. See picture below step 1.

2. Select two vertex.

3. Merge two vertex.

4. Select two edges.

5. Delete that two edges

22. repeat step 19 until 20 for detailing another finger excep thumb.

23. Add loop edge on palm of hand.

24. 1. Select 4 faces.

2. extrude and scale down. repeat this step until like picture below
(step 2).

25. 1. Select vertex like picture below.

2. Translate up.

26. 1. Select face.

2. Extrude and scale down

3. Repeat step 1 and 2 until like picture below (step 3).

27. This the result until now.

28. Now time to attach palm and thumb.

1. Select face on side of palm. Delete the face.

2. Combine palm and thumb. Snap thumb vertex to palm vertex and merge vertex.

29. Shape bottom of palm

30. 1. Select face on back of palm.

2. Extrude out the face.

31. Reshape and detailing bottom of palm.

1. Select faces. See picture below (step 1).

2. Extrude and scale down.

32. 1. Select face.

2. Extrude and scale down.

33. Back to bottom of palm.

1. Select face. See picture below (step 1).

2. Extrude and scale down.

3. Repeat step 1 and 2. until like picture below (step 3).

35. This the final modeling of hand
